What is Forgiveness? Well let's take a look shall we?! 1. Forgiveness is motivated by compassion. Matthew 9:36 states, "When He saw the crowds, He has compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." 2. Forgiveness is often costly. Matthew 26:28 states, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Romans 6:23 states, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ our Lord." 3. Forgiveness is inspired by the divine model. Ephesians 1:7 states that, "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace." Colossians 1:13-14 states, "For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
