Our Identity

What does God say about us:

Ephesians 1:1-14

1. He calls us saints (we are saints that sin) (Due 7:6)

2. Blessed (He holds nothing back from us) (Eph. 1:13-14)

3. We have been chosen ('before the foundation of the world. Before he spoke the world into existence, He spoke my name.' Matt. 13:25) I am blameless in His sight.

4. Predestined. (He predestined us for adoption into His family. Also we have been predestined for a purpose. We are His sons and daughters and we don't have to grovel in our sins.) (Rm. 8:29)

5. Redeemed and forgiven. (He has made us valuable. How? By sending His Son to die and be resurrected from the dead. "We are not meant to carry guilt and shame. PERIOD.")

6. In CHRIST. It is only in Christ that any of this is true.  (2 Cor. 5:17)

7. I have an inheritance.  (Ps. 37:29)

8. We are "seated with Christ in the heavenly places." Christ is seated in the seat of highest honor and in Christ we are seated with Him.  (Eph. 2:6)

9. His child.  (John 1:12)

10. Established, anointed, sealed by God. (2 Cor. 1:21-22)

11.  A citizen of heaven. ( Phil.3:20)

12. I am Significant!

13. God's workmanship, created unto Jesus for good works.

14.  Appointed to bear fruit.  (Jn. 15:16)

15.  Hidden in Christ. (Col. 3:3)

16.  Free forever from condemnation.  (Rom. 8:1-2)

17.  Branch of the true Vine, which is Christ! (Jn. 15: 1,5)

18.  Bought with a price, and belong to God.  (1 Cor. 6:19-20)

19.  United with God. (one spirit,  1 Cor. 6:17)

20.  Assured all works together for good.  (Rom 8:28)

This list could go on and on! Our identity in Christ is incomparable to anything else! The truth is that we, by our own power and effort, are unworthy, but it's through the Blood of Christ that makes us worthy. A warning is that if we say we are unworthy when the Blood of Christ says we are, then we are denying the great work that Christ did for us on the cross.

"Understanding your identity in Christ is absolutely essential for your success at living a victorious Christian life."   Quote by Dr. Neil T. Anderson
