Israel 2017 (day 8)

Tuesday (Day 8) Woke up Tuesday morning and packed our bags to leave the King David hotel at the Dead Sea and started our travels to Jerusalem. Our first stop of the day was at Beer Sheva (Beersheba), home to Abraham (Gen 21). We talked about the practicalities of settling in an oasis area; water is key! We talked about Abraham's relationship with Isaac and Ishmael and how, when we wait and trust in the Lord, we will experience God more profoundly. A little ways away we came to Elah Valley where David slayed Goliath with a sling and sword! It was neat to see this area and gaze around at the different hills where the Israelites and Philistines set up to watch God prevail in the most unlikely of ways! Today this destination is mere agriculture. We ate lunch and got a quick view of Bethlehem, our Savior's birthplace. Transformation Thursday!

There once was a little girl who loved playing in the mud and getting messy. She had two brothers so she always did what they did. If they dug a hole, she did. If her brothers played with bugs, she did. Her brothers never minded her being “one of the boys,” in-fact they thought it was great!  Years passed and that little girl started growing up, and started playing with dolls, cooking, and having tea parties. “What’s up with sis,” the brothers would ask each other. “She’s no fun anymore.” Something was up, that little girl was growing and becoming a young woman. You see, God created women to be nurturers. You may be thinking that you will never get out of the little girl/boy stage and become "all grown up". Are you feeling alone?!

Have you ever felt alone? Like there was no one there for you? No one to hear you, to lift you up to say it's going to be okay! No one! Have you ever felt like you're sinking and that there's no one to pull you out, to rescue you. In Hebrew 13:5b the Lord said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."  If you think you are alone, I am here to say that you are NOT! If you have a relationship with Christ Jesus our Lord you are NOT alone. The Lord, He will never leave you. He is with you through the storm.  In the book of Matthew the disciples climbed into a boat to go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. When evening came a storm came up and as the disciples looked out onto the storm, they were terrified when they saw Jesus walking on the water. They thought He was a ghost .
