Power in Prayer
The Bible tells us that there is power in prayer. Recently I have been reading books on prayer and this week our church is going through a week entitled, "Pause for Prayer."
First, I just
want to say that prayer is not a “Wishing well." At a camp where I had the
opportunity to work this summer, one of the coordinators explained to the
campers what prayer is and is not!
Prayer
is not just “wishing” for God to do things in our life. For example, we shouldn't be praying, “God I
wish that we have a great day today. I wish that everyone likes their food and
that we stay safe.”
That’s not what
prayer is!
"Prayer is not monologue, but
dialogue. God’s voice in response to mine is its most essential part.”
Quote by: Andrew
Murray
When we pray we should be
thanking God for everything that He has done in our life. Thank Him for being
the One true God and that He sent His one and only Son to earth to die for us
because we cannot save ourselves.
We
should also be praying for both physical and spiritual strength and protection.
2
Samuel 22:31b “He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection.”
Ephesians
6:18 “Be alert and always keep on praying.”
I
love this quote, “Prayer is our secret weapon. Prayer infiltrates the enemy’s
encampment and sends the evil on running. Prayer releases the power of God’s
Spirit and sends His angels to fight in the invisible realm.”
Quote taken from "Praying for your future Husband by: Gunn and Goyer"
As I stated in the beginning, prayer is powerful. Thank God for what He has
done and ask Him for help and protection.
He loves when we talk to Him in prayer!!
