"Let them see You in me."
A few days ago, my brother was listening to the radio station, K-Love, while he did his schoolwork. A song came on the station called “Let Them See You in Me.” As I listened to the lyrics, I was especially struck by the chorus of the song.
"Let them see You in me
Let them hear You when I speak
Let them feel You when I sing
Let them see You
Let them see You in me."
As I contemplated the meaning of these words, I began to realize that the song wasn’t just about people seeing God in our words and songs, but in our daily lives. As Christians, we are called to be different from this world. (Romans 12:2, Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is--His good, pleasing, and perfect will.)
What does it mean to be different from the world? We need to be examples of Christ likeness in our
daily lives. Now, that doesn't mean just when we are around non-believers or friends. No, that means
that we are called to act in a Christ-like manner even around family members! And, sometimes, being Christ-like means that we don’t fit in with what the rest of the world is thinking, doing, or saying. We have to be willing to be different and stand up for what we believe!
Our lives should be living, breathing testimonies of the work that Christ has done, and is doing in our lives. Whether it be through words or actions, as Christians, those around us should be able to see the presence of God in our lives.
Living a Christ-like life is easier said than done. I encourage you to look in the Bible for examples of Godly men and women whom you can follow. Remember, everyone makes mistakes, and no one is ever perfect, so don’t expect this Christ-like life thing to come super easily. But, know that God forgives and offers us grace in our weaknesses, and don’t be afraid to keep trying. If you ask God to help you, He will help you to begin to live a life that lets those around you see Christ in you. In our weakness, He is stronger!
